Founded by Linh and David, Lida Safety Research is dedicated to high-quality research about the possible future of AI, and communication of these risks to the public. We are trying to make AI safety go global and shift the Overton window around the world.
Meet the Team

David Williams-King
CO-FOUNDER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
David is an AI safety researcher focused on x-risk reduction. David works in fieldbuilding at ERA, and enjoys mentoring people new to AI safety. He also cares about communication of AI risks.

Linh (Thai Linh) Le
CO-FOUNDER, RESEARCH DIRECTOR
Linh is an independent AI safety researcher, previously at Mila, the University of Technology Sydney, and the University of Queensland. Linh dreams of running simulations of AI safety to avoid catastrophic outcomes for the world.

Hong Kiat Tan
RESEARCHER, SPAR MENTOR
Hong Kiat is an AI safety researcher and is currently finishing up his PhD in Mathematics at UCLA. He is your average mech interp enjoyer, and is interested in developing and applying mechanistic interpretability in AI safety and alignment.

Melanie Bui
RESEARCHER
Melanie is an AI safety and governance researcher. She is particularly interested in coordination failures and governance solutions for middle powers navigating the AI transition.

Astha is a lead ML engineer at Bain & Company. She is interested in AI safety and security work.

SPAR FELLOW
Niruthi is a PhD student at École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS Montréal). She is interested in AI security.

Cedric Lam
RESEARCHER
Cedric is an AI safety researcher from NYU with experience working in the Trust and Safety space. He's interested in cybersecurity topics and applications of AI governance in creative spaces, specifically AI-generated content.

Arthur Collé
AGENT BACKEND ENGINEER
Arthur's background is in distributed systems engineering. He has spent the last three years building production multiagent systems and doing autonomous agent research. He lives in Washington, DC.
